Some possible solutions to problems with setting up model
ramps for freestyle obstacles
- If it seems that no matter where you set up the model ramp, you still
run into the model you're trying to jump instead of jumping it, try
setting the offending model to No Collide (double click the model, it will
bring up the model properties box, then select No Collide from the menu
bar where it usually says Default), and then trying your ramps again. Make
sure you set up the ramps so that you don't go through the model you set
to No Collide, though!
- Try using mostly purple boxes (DEFAULT boxes) for your ramps. You may
not jump as high as if it were set as a RAMP (yellow boxes), but it may
work just as well if you keep tweaking it.
- Use the yellow Ramps for sky-wheelies on cars if you have trouble
getting a true sky-wheelie effect on your track.
- If you are just starting out a drag track with a stadium and your truck
does nothing but jump around and you can't move it much, check to see if
the stadium model is set to No
Collide. This should fix your problem.
- DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, use Pod Zip to eliminate the stock files from
tracks anymore. Too many people run without the stock tracks, and it
causes to many errors.
Cutting down on lag in drag tracks
- Setting models to No Collide can help reduce lag.
- Cutting out all unnecessary textures and models can also help. |

Truck Help: |
- If you're having trouble getting the chassis, frame of
your truck lined up against the drive shafts, lower or raise the chassis,
frame accordingly in BinEDIT. It takes some trial and error, but it will
eventually work. But ensure your finished vehicle sits about 1.5feet above
the Y-Axis to ensure it does not sink when you drive in the game.
- If you get an error about a truck being too large in file size (Over
64,000) when trying to retexture a truck using MDMRE' s texture replacer,
download BinNamer (simply search for it at any search engine, it's made by
Frank Racis) and read the read me. It will give you everything you need to
know to start using it, and I highly recommend it. Once you learn it, you
can retexture anything with ease.
- Make sure that when you repaint a .bin model that there are .act, .raw,
and .pal files (or if you use FlyRawGui, .raw and .bmp files) for your
model, otherwise BinEdit will crash trying to load the model. Also when
repainting a model make sure the paint you created has its own distinct
file names. Ex You use Bigfoot's paint files to make a tricked out ford
custom, and when you have it ready to save, make sure you go to save as...
and make up a name that you want to use such as TOF1.RAW and TOF2.RAW (and
save the .pal files according to the raw file that it corresponds with.).
Another Tip:
When you are painting the RAW files for your truck
something that I have recently found useful to do that makes the RAW file
much better looking on the truck and eliminates the paint spots that I
noticed after decreasing the color count from 16 Million to 256, instead
when you are ready to save decrease the colors to 32K then to 256, this
makes the colors contained and used remain as it appeared when you had
painted it with 16 Million. |

FAQ |
QUESTION:
I am making a new stadium track or drag track. How come
when I go to test it out in the game, my truck acts all weird It slides
around on its own and does all sorts of weird stuff...the background is
affected too. What's the deal?
ANSWER:
I have had this exact problem before, and the way that I
fixed it was to set the arena .bin model I was using to No Collide
(right-click on the arena until it highlights in white, then go to
Properties, then instead of Default, choose No Collide, then click OK).
This fixed my problem.
QUESTION:
How come my new track only has a couple of camera views I
can't get Race Cam and a lot of the other ones to show up...what's wrong?
ANSWER:
This applies to both drag stadium tracks and regular racing
tracks-you forgot to set the course for the computer trucks to follow! Do
this by selecting the Edit Course button in Traxx, then plotting a course
for all eight trucks, and finally selecting generate from main for the
courses 0 and 1 (do this by right clicking in the Traxx grid).
QUESTION:
I am using MDMRE' s method for repainting trucks. When I go
to load up my .raw files to paint the truck, they show up in all black and
white. What did I do wrong?
ANSWER:
You forgot to load up the .pal (palette) files for the
truck .raw you are using. To do this in PSP (Paint Shop Pro), go to
Colors, and then click on Load Palette, then locate the truck's
corresponding .pal files (you should have converted the .act files to .pal
files earlier if you did use MDMRE' s method) and load them up.
QUESTION:
Here's another MDMRE truck-making question-I painted my
truck's .raw files and saved my work, then quit for the day. When I came
back to my work the next day and tried to load everything up, my image was
all blurry and looked nothing like the .raw file I had before...What's
going on here?
ANSWER:
This is caused when you increase the image's color depth to
16 million colors and save the image without changing the color depth back
to 256 colors. Make sure you always decrease you color depth back to 256
colors before you save and quit, or you will lose a whole a lot work! |

These are just some of the more unique problems I have
heard about and experienced when trying to make tracks or trucks for MTM2. We
hope sometime in the future that we will have many problems listed here to help
out your truck and track making needs. We will try our best to post problems when
they occur and are figured out, but we also need your input on problems you have
had to help out others. Please Help us out here. Thanks!
